- Appointed as a member of the advisory committee in seismotectonics of the Earthquake Planning and Protection Organization in Greece since 2014. (Government Gazette 103/27-2-2014). Re-appointed in May 2020 (Government Gazette 388/28.05.2020).
- Appointed (in April of 2017) from the Chair of EIOPA (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) as an academic member of the Catastrophe Risk Workstream for the SCR (Solvency Capital Requirement) review Project and the recalibration of the Standard Formula.
- Leader of the International Focus Group “Earthquake Geology and Seismic hazards (EGSHaz) of INQUA (International Union for Quaternary Research, founded in 1928) from 2016 up to 2019. The focus group has 625 members from 57 countries worldwide. It formed part of the Terrestrial Processes, Deposits & History (TERPRO) INQUA Commission.
- Appointed in October 2013 and reappointed in April of 2016 as an Academic Member of the Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group at EIOPA (European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority) (served from October 2013- September 2018). Appointed (February 2014) as Lead of the Strategic Areas subgroup and Topic Owner of Catastrophe Risk of the Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group (IRSG) by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) based in Frankfurt. The IRSG serves as the official advisory body of the EIOPA and 5 of its members are well established academics. This was the first appointment of a Greek member in the IRSG group since its establishment.
- In 12-15 April 2016 I have been invited as Distinguished Lecturer in Earth Sciences from the Department of Earth, Environmental and Natural Resources from the University of Naples Federico II, (Dipartmento di Scienze della Terra, dell’ Ambiente e delle Risorse, Universita Degli Studi Di Napoli Federico II) for a series of seminars regarding the Seismic Landscape, Earthquake Geology, Seismic Hazard Assessment and Catastrophe Models.
- Since the academic Year 2015-2016, I have been appointed as the Msc Director of the Postgraduate Program «Geoenvironment and Modern Technology Applications for Infrastructure Works» of the Department of Natural Resources Development and Agricultural Engineering.
